Helping Others Without Losing Yourself

Many Christians have hearts for helping others. They volunteer, serve, counsel friends, care for family members, and support those in need.

But sometimes the desire to help can lead to emotional exhaustion.

Compassion fatigue occurs when individuals give so much emotional energy to others that they neglect their own well-being.

Signs of compassion fatigue may include exhaustion, irritability, emotional numbness, or feeling overwhelmed by others’ needs.

Jesus Himself practiced rhythms of rest. Throughout the Gospels, we see Him withdrawing from crowds to pray, rest, and reconnect with the Father.

Healthy service requires healthy boundaries.

Christian counseling can help caregivers, ministry leaders, and helpers develop sustainable ways to serve others without losing themselves.

You cannot pour from an empty cup.
